Here's an analogy that I can sink my teeth into

"Obsession is a form of autism, a way to cover our ears and block out the background noise, a way to protect ourselves when teh situation feels vulnerable or dangerous or anxiety producing. Obsession is a way to change the channel when you don't like what's barreling across the screen of your mind."

Exactly! Eating, shopping, blogging, exercising, playing video games . . . it's all away of self-soothing or AVOIDING which is my habit.
So, can you guess what author said that . . . and what book? First correct guess gets the book free from Amazon courtesy of me.
(Sorry - Pam and Mandy not available for prize because they know the answer.)

Sunshine!

The sun is shining brightly this morning

I got up and made healthy breakfast for everybody

I'm in charge of RE (religious ed) for the K - 6th grade today - we're making Valentines.

Did you see Darla's give away?  I hope not, because if you go and enter it, then it's less likely that I'll win.  I like winning and it's been a while since I've entered anything. So, it's my turn. I'm pretty much a winner. Gimme gimme!

We're supposed to be going to a benefit dinner today for a classmate who has the same type of cancer hubby had. We don't really know her but we want to be supportive and we may see some other highschool friends there. A bit outside my comfort zone, but we'll go and probably have a really nice time.

If all goes well, we'll visit the Kitty Rescue Center afterwards which will make Kiddo happy.

Nighty Night

Bedtime is coming WAY too early for me. It's only 2nd night of going to bed by 10. Hmmm. . . considering taking my laptop to bed with me but that pretty much defeats th purpose.

So glad the mini-cheer thing is over.

Looks like I'll be able to mail out the give-away books next week. Sorry for the delay. I have no excuse except for total lack of organization.

And the winners are . ..

Finding the Thin Within wins Half Assed by Jenette Fulda (Pasta Queen)

Laura Hartness wins Women Food, and God by Geneen Roth

Michele wins Such a Pretty Face by Cathy Lamb

All entries were great and much appreciated. Names were put in  a "hat" and drawn randomly. Please email me  your snail mail address and proper name and I will get your winnings to you. This may take some time, especially for Half Assed, as I need to send Jeneen your book for autograph personally, but will be worth the wait.

Thanks EVERYBODY for playing :)

Bookworm Give-Away

Have I mentioned that I'm a book geek?  I love reading. Fiction, non fiction, science fiction, fantasy, biography, humor, diet books, thrillers, and most anything except romance & mystery.

I have been really lucky to have participated and WON some great give-aways lately on other blogs.  Now it's time to pay it forward to some of you!

There will be three winners! Here's what you could win:

An Autographed copy of Half Assed by Jenette Fulda aka Pasta Queen

A copy of on of the books that changed my life, Women Food and God by Geneen Roth

Such a Pretty Face, a work of fiction by Cathy Lamb

How to participate:

Leave a comment here listing 3 books that could change our lives  for the better.

1 Must be fiction
1 Must be diet/fitness related
1 of your choice of genres

Preferrably books I haven't read would be great, so try to be original and don't use something that's already been posted. You may enter more than 3 if you have at least one fiction and one fitness related book.

All submissions should be in by 11:59 p.m. Ohio time on Sunday Sept 19. Please leave me an email or link to your blog so that I may easily notify you if you win.  Good luck!
