Guess what I did today?

I used my new gym membership. I met up with my friend just as she was taking her starting measurements. She really didn't want to do that, but they must've encouraged her.  I think it will be a great tool for her to see her progress. When we worked out together at the Y, they did very little for us and the ladies at this gym seem very involved with their clients. I'm pretty excited about that!

So, we walked about 40 minutes and I managed a little over a mile and a half. Then we got our weight workout training on the machines and the trainer marked everything down on our cards for each of us. This is so amazingly useful for me because I have a difficult time remembering numbers so I will be able to check the card, match it up to the machine, see what height setting I used, how much I should lift, and how many reps I should do.   We have a 2nd training on Wednesday with another trainer who is super nice. Can't wait!

And then we did 10 minutes on elipticals which I had never before used successfully. At the Y, the machines felt really high off the ground and very clumsy to me. I did have problems going fast enough for it to keep going and it took me a little longer to get my 10 minutes than my friend.

Dinner's ready. Must "run" for now and feed the fam.

  1. Hey Lanie:

Good for you for getting your exercise on, girl!!! I am back at the gym too!!!

I never understand why something that really makes most of us feel so good once it is over is something most of us dread doing :-)

Thank you for all your kind words. Not reading the anonymous comments is a good idea. I'll try that. I am an overly sensitive person who pretends to have a hard shell, maybe that is one of my problems.

so funny both our kiddies play the clarinet!!!

    have a great night!

  2. Doesn't it feel great when you do something like go to the gym? I agree with Brett(?) above about dreading something that we feel so good about after wards.

  3. That's awesome Lanie! Keep up the good work! It's always nice to find a gym that seems to care. It makes you want to go.

I can't get the hang of the eliptical. Maybe I'm just not coordinated enough.

  7. That's absolutely what I need to do - take measurements. I'm going to scour the house to see if I can find some measuring tape to figure out where my starting point is. You know, for the end of the year. :)
