Tonight's the night

The dreaded sleep study.

I'm not happy about it, but I'm not freaking out as much as I was.

One of my church friends reassured me that it's "just like sleeping in a hotel, especially if you're used to going to some kind of freaky hotel where they hook you up to machines and watch you sleep."

  1. It's not so bad. I had a hard time falling asleep, but that's normal for me any time I'm not in my own bed. You'll do fine. :) Good luck!

  4. I've had a couple of sleep studies and I hated them. I was never really able to get to sleep for them to get accurate readings. I hate not sleeping in my own bed. In fact, I don't even like the thought of going on vacation because I know the beds wont be as good as mine. Good luck with the study. There is nothing painful or anything like that. It is mostly just an annoying process. You will do fine and if your doctor ordered it then you need to get it done. Fortunately, I didn't have an significant apnea. My husband does though and has to do the whole c-pap machine thing. It is a pain in the ass but then again, without it he could do damage to his heart. I hope it goes well and the news is good when it is over. Good Luck!

  6. I personally haven't done it but have heard exactly the same thing. Very hotel-like, except with wires. At first my friend said that he thought he'd never get comfortable knowing the wires were there, but they make it as easy as possible obviously, because if you'd never sleep it defeats the purpose. Good luck and sleep WELL.

  7. I went to the sleep clinic but both my dr and i didn't agree with their findings! I think it's just one of many tests that should be used.
And no i didn't sleep much either :)

  8. Good luck, buddy. You'll be fine. I did my sleep study in the comfort of my own home. And, as much as I despise my C-Pap machine, I love it all the same. No more feeling sooooo tired. Hope to get rid of it with weight loss, but even if I cannot, I still wouldn't get rid of it - it's a love/hate thing, you know.

  9. I am hoping for you a successful night and, if needed, successful treatment and tolerance. It has made a huge difference in my quality of life.

  13. I've had 2 sleep studies. Didn't think I'd slept during either one but they assured me that I did. Wear comfy pj's. Don't braid your hair or do anything fancy coz they'll need to hook you up allllll over (including head!) to wires. Drink a little something to help you sleep (like warm milk or sleepy-time tea) but make sure you won't have to get up to pee coz the wires go with you! You'll do fine!
