Photos don't lie

My dear wonderful cherished friend and follower sent a lovely gift today.  I adore her, really I do. I'm reminding myself (and her) of this because I saw the photos that she sent which she took last month in Chicago. And although some of what I saw in those pictures disgusts me,  it was JUST what I needed!

I had become complacent. Lots of people kept telling me what I great job I've been doing on weight loss and how great I was looking and the truth is in the pictures. I am still so fat, so obese, so disgusting, that I can't even stand looking at myself in them. I have a HELL of a lot more work to do.

Although it was very upsetting to see what I mess I still am, I may have to copy a couple of those pics and hang them up around the house to remind myself that I'm not done. I have a long freakin' way to go. 70 lbs minimum!

Thanks for the inspiration -  you know who you are.

  1. Sounds like the "good" kind of fire to light under one's self!

  2. I have had this exact same thought about myself LP! While it is good to not lose sight of where we want to be, sometimes we need to reflect on how far we have come. Keep up the good work!

  3. I know I am a new follower of yours, and I don't know you at all, so I hope you don't mind if I say this, your post kind of made me sad. Because no matter what size you are or how much you weigh you are still a beautiful, amazing, wonderful person! You are not disgusting! Negative talk is bad!

    Oh I just had a thought, go read some of these

    Even though we have such a long way to go in our journey, just look at your body and embrace it. I do believe photos give us motivation, but you my dear new blog friend are not disgusting! {{HUGS}}

  4. Photos can have a good and bad reaction. You can look at the progress you've made or dwell on how much you still have to go. You can do it! And think about the picture in another month and how much different you will be then.

  5. I agree that those pictures should go up somewhere so that you can see them - to remind you that you are not the same person you were a month ago: you are stronger, more focused, healthier and ON YOUR WAY! You are ever-evolving and as long as you are making progress - even if they are too small to feel worthwhile, you are changing....and I completely agree with Trish: no negative talk! You are a lovely, amazing person and that is seen every day on this blog....you can't fool your readers!!! :)

  7. I'm a big fan of anything that keeps you motivated but have you thought about also putting up a smaller photo of you as well? My BFF brought me a photo of 15-year-old me, right before I started putting on weight. It's on my fridge so I see it whenever I think about snacking. Just a thought!!

    And you ARE doing great- so there! :P even if you have 70 to go, that's less than you had a year ago, right?! And YOU did that!

  8. You ARE making progress, and look at the pix in that light. I'm disgusted by pix of me too, but if I look closely, I have one less chin, and I'm not quite as rolly-polly as I was.

    It's just attitude. Right?
