Before:
I love my kitchen, so why don't I treat it better? The poor neglected and abused island! How do I expect it to hold up all that CRAP?!?!!?! A few highlights include laundry on the barstools, appliances on the counter. Diet Mt Dew (not mine! yuck!), stuff piled on top of the fridge. Magazines and mail EVEYWHERE. Newspapers too. And paper towels. There is a small clearing on the far left corner that allowed for food prep, but clearly some seriously sick and lazy people live in this kitchen.''
VOILA!
See all that nice fruit? I think it's beautiful. Pretty enough to eat! What else do we have reamaining on the countertops? A big pumpkin pie scented candle, my late Aunt V's cookie jar (empty), an empty bucket for sponges and soaps, and an aloe plant. Pay no attention to the floor. Stop it! I said not to look! I'm totally ready for some black granite countertops and backsplash with some maroon accent paint on the soffet. Who's with me? That reminds me, I do have a nice curtain for that window somewhere . . . wonder if my tall Sweetie would hang it up for me on his lunch today? The hardware's already there. I notice now that I missed the top of the fridge. Hmmm. . .a stainless steel fridge, microwave & and dishwasher combo would be nice as well! Lunch breaks are too short.
Your kitchen looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteYou're inspiring me to revisit FlyLady's websited again. I've definately fallen off the zone cleaning wagon in the past 3-4 months. :)
I am drooling over your kitchen! Drooling. You may have just given me the inspiration to get started on mine. And then I'll run out and get some fruit in a bowl.
ReplyDeleteI am so envious!!! Did I already tell you I have drafted a post about how much I hate clutter? My kitchen countertops feature prominently in the fight against my husband, the pack rat. If it was just me, they would look like that second picture all the time! BTW - I still have all white appliances. Hate them.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this looks beautiful! I'm a Flylady drop out myself but these pictures alone are getting me motivated to try again!
ReplyDeleteLooks kind of like my kitchen on a daily basis and I clean it everyday. No one picks up after themselves here. I guess they think that is what mom is for.
ReplyDeleteI am being firm in letting my family know that I expect them to clean up after themselves, and that when I come back into the room it is NOT to look any worse than I left it. I'm starting to think I actually deserve to live in a place that isn't so chaotic!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, my mom's house could've SHOULD'VE been condemned by the health department. I won't get into it at great length, but we could never have friends over. Ever. Nothing makes me sicker and more down on myself than when I have to tell my kid she can't invite friends over, or when I'm scared that one of my friends will show up. I deserved better as a child, and WE deserve better now. We ALL do. I hope some of you who are considering it will join me. It's so much more fun with friends
Nice job! I am trying to declutter too!
ReplyDeleteyou might inspire me to clean my kitchen.. but the again .. the laundry is whispering sweet nothings in my ear.. sigh....
