Priorities Schmriorities

I'm convinced that do it right, healthy living has to be my NUMBER ONE priority. It should support and be intertwined with all of my other goals and dreams. When I make any choice I should think about how (if) it will reflect on my weight and health (physical and emotional) before I take action.

Exercise takes time, it just does. It might interfere with what my other family members would like to do, or be an inconvenience to us all, but it's important. There is no excuse to skip a day. There are no days off from exercise. I need to move to burn calories and get rid of the fat. That's more important than playing board games or watching movies together. We can all move and exercise together and it can be beneficial for us ALL. There will still be time for those sedentary activities but not on a daily basis.

Eating only when I'm hungry and not necessarily at assigned meal times makes sense to me. It's the best way I've found to regulate what goes into my body. I can still sit and visit during a meal but if I'm not hungry, I don't eat. Yes, it's awkward at first, but it's important not to eat when I'm not hungry. There will still be food later. That's what microwaves are for.

  2. I so agree with you about daily exercise!! I am working on just 5/7 times a week. I feel so much better after a round of biking. I plan to pick up on some walking too, soon. Keep at it! Michele

  9. I totally agree! At least when you start, I think it takes a LOT of focus. But, that makes sense if you think about it... anything new takes a lot of energy to get good at it. I wouldn't expect to become good at any other activity (sport, writing, music, etc) without giving it time and practice, so why would you expect to succeed at diet and exercise without making it a priority. :-)

  10. Catching up on a few of your posts after a busy week, and I really like this one! Good for you for taking the initiative - its way too easy to put aside what we know we should be doing when it might inconvenience someone else. Eventually, it becomes second nature and habit, but it takes work to get to that point. Kudos to you, I love how serious you are taking this.
