CPAP update

Sorry - I forgot that I owe you all an update on the CPAP.

It's been since Monday that I've been using the nasal pillows instead of the full face mask. I must say that it is infinitely more comfortable. However, it still takes about 4 hours to fill my stomach with air. At which point I am so uncomfortable that I don't want to mess with the thing the second part of the night. I'm toying with the idea of asking to reduce the air pressure and see if that helps.  It can't be good for a stomach to be pumped full of air nightly. Ugh.  Maybe I should fill it with ice cream before I lay down!

I think I will try propping myself up more and see if that helps.

  1. Well, you're moving forward anyway. Hubby usese the nasal pillows. I didn't like them. I felt like the air was whoosing up my nose too quickly. I move around like crazy all night and I mostly sleep on my side - here's the one I use - http://www.cpapmachinescanada.com/cpap-masks-resmed-mirage-activa.php

The thing I like about it is it doesn't even seem like any air is going in and with the Bi-Pap it lets the pressure off so that I can breathe out naturally. It's the only one I could actually get used to. Good luck with the new mask and if it doesn't work...try this one.

  4. LMAO - I actually snorted with laughter about the icecream comment! I used the nasal pillows and went to the full face mask, the opposite of you. I kept knocking the pillows out of position. Cheers, Rick

  5. I am so sympathetic to you through all of this. I just wish there was something I could do right through the computer screen. My husband is going for a sleep study on the 17th and I am afraid that we will be dealing with this. You have no idea how much I appreciate you giving updates and talking about this. It's really helpful and will prepare me for this exact thing.
