Planning ahead for Thanksgiving

I think I just found my dessert to make for Thanksgiving dinner next month.  Now all I have to do is triple the recipe and tell myself to stop after my one serving.

Does anybody else have any lower calorie versions of Thanksgiving favorites to share?

Guess I'm going to have to resort to low-cal whipped cream. They just look so NEKKED w/o it!

  1. Those look good! I am going to stick with apple pie and pumpkin pie, the usual. I am not too worried about Thanksgiving because it is one day. Christmas activities, on the other hand, drag on and on. For Christmas I am not having any desserts at all, but my birthday happens to be Dec 23, and I will have chocolate torte that day.

  2. Those look good! I, like Cathy, will not be too stressed over Thanksgiving day. I also will not be too stressed over Christmas day, but won't be planning to indulge at every event leading up to and following Christmas, I'll save my indulgences for TRUE special occasions.

  3. What are those desserts?

I'm planning ahead to Thanksgiving too. Because of a drama going on in Hubby's family, we're just having a quiet 4-days here on our little farm, just the 3 of us. Maybe mom-in-law might come one day.

The turkey that we're going to eat is still gobbling in the backyard. And we just harvested the pumpkin.

We're having homegrown tomatoes and maybe some green beans. No sweet potatoes this year! My kid and Hubby will have baked white potatoes.

For dessert, I'm working on gluten-free low-carb pumpkin muffins, and a gluten-free pecan pie-bars. I'll have one (or two!) pecan pie-bars but that's ok coz I'm gonna make them fabulous!

I usually make stuffing but I'm thinking I'll bake a spaghetti squash and add a little gluten-free healthy stuffing on the side for that. With walnuts.

Yum! Thanks for making me think about this!

  4. Those look yummy. Reddi Whip in the can is 15 calories for a two tablespoon serving. When you use it the first time, spray it into a measuring spoon so that you know what two tablespoons looks like. :D

I am also planning a healthy Thanksgiving. My son is devastated. lolol I have a couple of recipes that I want to try out ahead of time, to make sure they are going to work before the big day. I'll post about them in my blog. :D

  7. Those are individual pumpkin custards. If you click on the word "dessert" in the original post, it should take you to the recipe. I haven't figured out the calories yet, but it can't be as much as pie with the delicious fluffy buttery crust . . .mmmmmmmm pie!
